Hong Kong Shared Good Values (HKSGV) 2022 Case Competition, a program which aims to advocate the concept of doing good and doing well in businesses in Hong Kong, and inspire students become innovative future business leaders with a comprehensive concept of creating shared value (CSV).
This is the sixth year that HKSGV organized Case Competition. Current undergraduate and postgraduate students from all universities and higher education institutes are welcomed to form a team of three to four people to take part in this competition. Winners’ prizes are worth up to HK$10,000 each and might have opportunities for fast-track internship interview from our case partner companies.
This year, we are honored to have MTR Corporation's social innovation venture Carbon Wallet and The Coffee Academïcs for the participating students contributing ideas to the senior management from February to May.

MTR Corporation – Carbon Wallet
MTR Corporation strives to “Keep Cities Moving” by connecting and growing communities with caring, innovative and sustainable services. As a sustainable rail transport operator, “low-carbon” has been in the DNA of MTR. With sustainability lying at the heart of our new corporate strategy, MTR launched a social innovation venture Carbon Wallet in 2021 to incentivize the public to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle and act on climate change. Serving as a Hong Kong One-stop Reward App to Go Green, Carbon Wallet empowers the public to record their green actions, track their carbon emissions saved and reward their little steps in daily lives.
The Carbon Wallet team would like to invite innovative recommendations that strengthen Carbon Wallet’s position as the leading green lifestyle platform in Hong Kong, empowering the public and businesses to act on climate change towards carbon neutrality.
The Coffee Academïcs
Over the decade, The Coffee Academïcs has grown and thrived with its friends & loyal customers. The company has been standing strong with its commitment to sustainability objectives and adhere to the Bean-To-Cup principle in the coffee bean sourcing procedure. The company source beans with assurance of fair prices as well as environmentally friendly practices including Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade.
As The Coffee Academïcs approaches its 10th year anniversary along with the recent opening of a brand new 12,000 sqft, HACCP & ISO22000 certified coffee bean roastery, the company would like to explore different approaches to reintroduce itself and also the mission behind to company to the next or rising generation.

Application Deadline – 18 Feb 2022 (Fri)
Opening Ceremony – 26 Feb 2022 (Sat)
The Opening Ceremony (PM Session) was held in ZOOM. All teams were required to attend the Opening Ceremony. HKSGV provided teams Opening Ceremony details with ZOOM link via mass email on 23 Feb 2022 (Wed).
Publication of E-materials webpage – 26 Feb 2022 (Sat)
The HKSGV Secretariat uploaded re-shot videos, PowerPoint decks, documents and links on our website on a page called “E-Materials” on 26 Feb 2022 (Sat). These e-materials covered case partners’ sharing on the background of the case questions and guest speakers’ sharing on creating shared value (CSV), shared good values (SGV), corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainable development goals (SDGs), sustainability and case competition writing and presentation techniques. Students were asked to select their case question based on these materials provided.
Case Selection Deadline – 2 Mar 2022 (Wed)
The HKSGV Secretariat provided students with a Case Selection google form 28 Feb 2022 (Mon). Each team was asked to indicate your priorities on case question selection. The deadline for case selection was on 2 Mar 2022 (Wed), 11:59PM.
Announcement of Case Selection Results – 4 Mar 2022 (Fri)
The HKSGV Secretariat announced the result of case question selection via mass email on 4 Mar 2022 (Fri).
FAQ Session – 4 Mar (Fri) - 11 Mar (Fri) 2022
During one week from 4 to 11 Mar, all teams were invited to submit questions to the HKSGV Secretariat via a FAQ google form link. Students may ask HKSGV any questions about the case competition, case questions, case partners, definitions about CSR, CSV and SGV, and other things that they want clarifications on.
HKSGV published answers to students' questions on a google doc – which was available to you via a link on 21 Mar 2022 (Mon). The HKSGV Secretariat collected and answered questions on a rolling basis.
Preliminary Proposal Submission Deadline – 28 Mar 2022 (Mon)
All participating teams were asked to submit their preliminary proposals in word or PDF formats via a Preliminary Proposal Google form link. The preliminary proposal should be no more than four pages. One of the pages should be an infographic summary of the whole proposal. The deadline for preliminary proposal submission was 28 Mar 2022 (Mon), 11:59PM. We provided students with a suggested preliminary proposal structure and some past reference proposals on 26 Feb 2022 on our “E-Materials” webpage.
Announcement of Selected Finalists – 14 Apr 2022 (Thu) *TBC
We announced the selected finalist teams for all two case questions on 14 Apr 2022 (Thu). Five finalist teams were selected for each case question. Finalists were asked to take part in our Mentorship Scheme and attend the Grand Finals on 21 May 2022 (Sat) and create a social media video to explain their proposal concept, and to prepare a Grand Finals PowerPoint pitch deck. The HKSGV Secretariat contacted the finalist teams and paired each team up with one mentor around 19 Apr 2022 (Tue).
For selected finalist groups (five groups for each case question)
Mentorship Scheme – 19 Apr (Tue) - 21 May (Sat) 2022
The mentorship scheme comprised of at least two digital sessions of digital consultations. Team leaders needed to schedule at least two consultations with their assigned mentors before the Grand Finals to seek guidance from the mentors to further refine their preliminary proposals into a PowerPoint pitch decks.

The site visits to MTR Corporation and The Coffee Academïcs are still under considerations due to the latest development of the coronavirus and social distancing restrictions. Further details would be announced.
Social Media Video Submission Deadline *Optional – 2 May 2022 (Mon)
Each finalist team can submit a short social media video that is no more than three minutes to the HKSGV Secretariat on or before 2 May 2022 (Mon), 11:59PM. We provided students with a Social Media Video link to upload your videos. The HKSGV Secretariat shared submitted videos on our Facebook and LinkedIn in the week of early May. The most liked videos in each case were given "Best Video" Award.
Grand Finals Pitch Deck Submission Deadline – 16 May 2022 (Mon)
All finalist teams are required to submit their revised presentation aids in PowerPoint format to the HKSGV Secretariat by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) before 11:59 pm on 16 May. Late submissions will not be accepted. The Secretariat reserves the right to disqualify any team that violates the rules and conditions of the Competition.
Grand Finals - Pitch Day – 21 May 2022 (Sat)
The actual time of the Grand Finals from MTR Corporation and The Coffee Academïcs would be announced later.
