Hong Kong Shared Good Values 2021 Case Competition
In collaboration with Nestlé Hong Kong Limited and Stan Group
Applications are now open for the Hong Kong Shared Good Values (HKSGV) 2021 Case Competition, a programme which aims to propagate the concept of doing good and doing well in businesses in Hong Kong. A total of 140 teams (about 500 students) registered last year.
Between February and May 2021, participating students will contribute ideas on senior management at Nestlé Hong Kong Limited and Stan Group on how they generate creative ideas of offices penetration and engagement, the importance of happy work culture, elderly care and wellness for an age-friendly smart city, creating shared value business concepts, business and social development in Hong Kong.
It's the fifth year that HKSGV is organising this case competition. We welcome current undergraduate and postgraduate students from all universities and higher education institutes, give out winners’ prizes that are worth up to HK$10,000 each and offer fast-track internship interview opportunities at the aforementioned companies. All students have to register in teams of three to four people.

To generate ideas that enhance NESCAFÉ's penetration among offices or secure long-term office orders of its coffee in Hong Kong, while injecting a happy work culture at offices. This work culture should cheer up Hong Kong working class and rekindle employees’ passion when they first started working, bringing positive energy to the community.
To synergise Stan Group's core businesses and expertise in property, hospitality, financial services and senior care services to devise new business ideas forsenior care and wellness for an age-friendly smart city.

Opening Ceremony (20 Feb 2021)
The Opening Ceremony (PM Session) will be held in ZOOM. All teams are required to attend the Opening Ceremony. We will provide you Opening Ceremony details with ZOOM link via mass email on 18 Feb 2021 (Thursday).
Publication of E-materials webpage (20 Feb 2021)
The HKSGV Secretariat will upload re-shot videos, PowerPoint decks, documents and links on our website on a page called “E-Materials” on 20 February 2021 (Saturday). These e-materials cover case partners’ sharing on the background of the case questions and guest speakers’ sharing on creating shared value (CSV), shared good values (SGV), corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainable development goals (SDGs), sustainability and case competition writing and presentation techniques. Students will be asked to select their case question based on these materials provided.
FAQ Batch 1 (22- 24 Feb 2021)
Between 22 February 2021 (Monday) and 24 February 2021 (Wednesday), all teams were invited to submit questions to the HKSGV Secretariat via a FAQ google form link. Students may ask the HKSGV any questions about the case competition, case questions, case partners, definitions about CSR, CSV and SGV, and other things that they want clarifications on.
HKSGV will publish answers to students' questions on a google doc – which will be made available to you via a link on 3 March 2021 (Wednesday). The HKSGV Secretariat collected and answered questions on a rolling basis.
Case Selection Deadline (7 Mar 2021)
The HKSGV Secretariat will provide students with a Case Selection google form on 3 March 2021(Wednesday). Each team will be asked to indicate your priorities on case question selection. The deadline for case selection will be on 7 March 2021 (Sunday), 11:59PM.
Announcement of Case Selection Results (8 Mar 2021)
The HKSGV Secretariat will announce the result of case question selection via mass email on 8 March 2021 (Monday).

Between 8 March 2021 (Monday) and 10 March 2021 (Wednesday), all teams were invited to submit questions to the HKSGV Secretariat via a FAQ google form link. Students may ask the HKSGV any questions about the case competition, case questions, case partners, definitions about CSR, CSV and SGV, and other things that they want clarifications on. Preliminary Proposal Submission Deadline (22 Mar 2021)
All participating teams will be asked to submit their preliminary proposals in word or PDF formats via a Preliminary Proposal google form link. The preliminary proposal should be no more than four pages. One of the pages should be an infographic summary of the whole proposal. The deadline for preliminary proposal submission was 22 March 2021 (Monday), 11:59PM. We will provid students with a suggested preliminary proposal structure and some past reference proposals on 20 February 2021 on our “E-Materials” web-page.
Announcement of Selected Finalists *TBC (10 Apr 2021)
We will announce the selected finalist teams for all two case questions on 10 April 2021 (Saturday). Five finalist teams will be selected for each case question. Finalists will be asked to take part in our Mentorship Scheme and attend the Grand Finals on 15 May 2021(Saturday) and create a social media video to explain their proposal concept, and to prepare a Grand Finals PowerPoint pitch deck. The HKSGV Secretariat will contect the finalist teams and pair each team up with one mentor on 12 April 2021 (Monday).
For selected finalist groups (five groups for each case question)
Mentorship Scheme (12 Apr – 15 May 2021)
The mentorship scheme will comprise of at least two digital sessions of digital consultations. Team leaders need to schedule at least two consultations with their assigned mentors before the Grand Finals to seek guidance from the mentors to further refine their preliminary proposals into a PowerPoint pitch decks.
Site Visit *TBC (19- 24 Apr 2021)
The site visits to Nestle Hong Kong and Stan Group are subject to coronavirus development. We will let you know the latest arrangement for the site visits at a later stage.
Social Media Video Submission Deadline *Optional (25 Apr 2021)
Each finalist team can submit a short social media video that is no more than three minutes to the HKSGV Secretariat on or before 25 April 2021 (Sunday), 11:59PM. We will provide students with a Social Media Video link to upload your videos at a later stage. The HKSGV Secretariat will share your videos on our Facebook and LinkedIn in the week of 26 April 2021. The most liked videos in each team will be given "Best Video" Award.
Grand Finals Pitch Deck Submission Deadline (9 May 2021)
Each finalist team will be required to submit their Grand Finals PowerPoint pitch deck to the HKSGV Secretariat on or before 9 May 2020 (Sunday), 11:59PM. We will provide finalist teams with a Grand Finals Pitch Deck link to upload PowerPoint presentation at a later stage.
Grand Finals – Pitch Day (15 May 2021)
Grand Finals will be in the morning of 15 May 2021 (Saturday), present format is subject to future coronavirus development. We will keep you posted on further updates.
